Routine attention helps an outboard remain ready for work. The owner’s manual for the exact model and configuration is the primary reference; the checklist below is general preparation, not a replacement for model-specific instructions or trained service.
Before each trip
- Check the correct fuel and oil arrangement for the motor.
- Inspect fuel lines, connections and the tank for damage or leakage.
- Confirm that controls move correctly and the emergency stop arrangement is ready.
- Inspect the propeller area for damage, fishing line or obstruction while the engine is safely stopped.
- Make sure the cooling-water intake is clear.
After operation
Follow the manual for flushing and cleaning, especially after use in salt or dirty water. Look for loose fasteners, damage or leaks and address unusual noise, vibration or cooling-water flow before the next trip.
Fuel, lubrication and storage
Use the specified fuel and oil and keep them clean. Do not guess a premix ratio; confirm it for the exact motor. For storage, follow the manual’s instructions for fuel, lubrication, battery care where applicable and the correct motor position.
Service information
Keep the model and serial information available when asking about parts or service. Record operating hours and completed work. Contact the Ghana dealer for product guidance, and use the enquiry page to describe the motor and the assistance required.
